I was blessed with the opportunity to go to the Carribean island of Roatan this weekend. Roatan is one of the most beautiful places in Honduras. The trip was a school staff retreat; we had time for laying on the beach, spiritual time, and sleeping a lot. It was great to hang-out with the staff outside of school. It is hard to believe that 2nd partial of school has past and I have not blogged. During 2nd partial, my students have become more difficult. They know my weaknesses and they are learning how to get away with things. It is very challenging! On the bright side, I am developing relationships with them and they are starting to become easier to joke with and impact. It would be awesome for prayers

I had the blessing to go to Belize for Thanksgiving vacation. I went with a diverse group of friends, who didn't always get along, yet learned alot and enjoyed the beautiful beaches of Placienia. I have not talked about my church experiences yet, so I thought I would today because there was an amazing sermon. Mike Kurry was the speaker. He is a pastor in Tennessee and his message today was life changing. He started with the question of whether you want God to help you or heal you. I have been blessed with the experience of going to Amapala this weekend. I hitchhiked with six other teachers to the Southern coast of Honduras. Amapala is a dormant volcano. My friends and I decided to climb the volcano very unprepared! We left in the morning around 6 in the morning with a small breakfast and 18 oz of water per person. We ended up having a 4 hour hike; it was very challenging.

It is starting to feel a little like home in Honduras. I played a bilingual game of Settlers tonight. I am starting to find groups of Honduran friends which will be great for my Spanish! Tonight I hung out with a group of teachers and two Joseph's. The Joseph's are both completely bilingual and would be my first friends outside of school. Hopefully I will be able to develop these relationships

I have had a very discouraging day today. I found out that I am ill prepared for Honduras. I recieved an e-mail today that explains that I need a police record, exiting documents, and a prom dress for my adventures in Honduras and it scares me that I am hearing these things two weeks before leaving my country.Even though these new discoveries are scary many people who love me are helping me.Julie
